Abstract

Background: Suicide has received some recent research attention in Bangladesh, although little has been attempted on prevention. Additionally, we do not know the trends and potential contributors, institutions, and journals regarding suicidal behavior. Therefore, we aimed to perform a bibliometric analysis on suicide in Bangladesh.

Methods: We searched Scopus and extracted documents published on suicide in Bangladesh for the period 1991-2025.

Results: There was a sharp increase followed by a steady trend in articles after 2016. Arafat was the leading contributor (18.1%), Jahangirnagar University was the leading institution (16.5%), and the Asian Journal of Psychiatry was the leading journal (9.6%).

Conclusions: Suicide research has increased substantially in Bangladesh in the last decade, although it has been concentrated around a few nodes (researchers, universities, and journals).
